Some photographers wait for the shot. I move toward it.

I'm Kurt Hamm — based in Joshua Tree, shooting portraits, engagements, graduations, and editorial work across the Coachella Valley and Los Angeles, with event and brand activation work mixed in for good measure. My background is in high-energy environments, but the portrait work is where it gets personal.

I studied Animation at San Jose State, and that foundation shows up in everything I shoot. Composition, contrast, visual hierarchy — the way a frame is built matters as much as what's inside it. Engagements, graduation sessions, editorial — I work with people at moments that actually mean something, and I bring that design eye to every one.

I use off-camera flash and optical filters because I like images with visual weight to them. High contrast, layered light, the kind of frame that feels intentional even when it's spontaneous. The goal is always the same: a portrait that looks unmistakably like you, shot in a way that's unmistakably mine.

My ideal portrait clients want something cinematic and alive — not soft, not generic, not everyone else's style. On the event side, I'm drawn to brand activations, nightlife, and producers who need a photographer that can keep up.

The Coachella Valley is home base. LA is a regular stop. The work keeps growing.
